The Ultimate Moving Guide on SnapTap

When it comes to moving, many people feel both excited and exhausted. Moving to a new environment is something to look forward to, but it also comes with the challenge of organizing, packing, and deciding what to discard. The moving process can be time-consuming and requires advance planning and preparation. Recently, we conducted a survey of 1,000 Americans to understand how people perceive moving and the challenges they face. The results showed that 76% of respondents consider moving one of the most stressful life events.

Statistics show that people typically spend 12 to 15 hours preparing for a move, and the entire process can last several days or even weeks, depending on the size of the space. Preparations include cleaning, sorting items, packing, hiring a moving company, and arranging logistics. These tasks can be exhausting, especially while juggling work and personal responsibilities. Furthermore, the emotional stress of moving—feeling nostalgic, excited, or uncertain—is also common.

Additionally, 52% of respondents said they would be willing to spend $500 or more to hire professionals to help with the move. Many people don’t realize that having professionals handle the heavy lifting can significantly improve the efficiency of the move and reduce stress.

SnapTap expert and "Swift Moves" moving company owner, Jake Thompson, says that the key to making moving easier is starting early, planning, and creating checklists. "The earlier you start cleaning and packing, the easier it will be. Don’t wait until the last minute," Thompson says. "Hiring a moving company not only helps with the heavy lifting but also makes the entire process more efficient."

Thompson also offers some advice: important documents and jewelry should be kept separately and not packed away yet, but make sure they’re stored in a safe place to avoid losing them. Pack by areas (bedroom, living room, balcony, kitchen, bathroom) while decluttering and organizing. Also, prepare essential packing tools like tape, scissors, plastic wrap, boxes, large trash bags, and duffel bags.

To help reduce the stress of moving and stay organized, we’ve created a moving checklist for homeowners to help you navigate the process smoothly. Whether you choose to do it yourself or hire professionals, our tips will ensure a smooth transition to your new home:

Decluttering (DIY): Take advantage of the move to clear out items you no longer need. This will make your transition lighter and easier. Decluttering is a simple and stress-relieving task you can do on your own.

Packing (Hire a Pro/DIY): Start packing a few days ahead of time by separating items you absolutely won’t use from those you might need in the coming days. Label the boxes with their contents and numbers so you know how many boxes there are. Packing is time-consuming and physically demanding, so you can either do it yourself, or after sorting, let professionals handle the packing for you.

Hiring a Moving Company (Hire a Pro): If you have many items or large furniture, hiring a moving company is highly recommended. It saves both time and energy. Be sure to book the movers in advance and describe the size and quantity of your items so they can prepare the appropriate personnel and vehicles.

Setting Up Utilities (DIY): Before moving into your new home, make sure your utilities (electricity, water, internet) are set up. This ensures everything is ready to go when you arrive, avoiding problems like no water or power when you move in.

Unpacking (Hire a Pro/DIY): Unpacking is the final task of moving. You can choose to unpack by area on your own, which helps you remember where things are placed for easy access. However, if you have other commitments and no time to unpack, you can let the moving company handle it, saving you time.

Regardless of your choice, it’s essential to prepare in advance and plan your move to ensure everything goes smoothly. Whether you’re doing it yourself or hiring professionals, you can enjoy the process and take your time. Once the move is complete, don’t forget to reward yourself with some much-needed rest and relaxation. Wishing you a smooth and successful move!

In our daily lives, moving or rearranging the home is an inevitable task, and furniture handling and heavy lifting are the most heavy and laborious part of it. Especially when faced with large pieces of furniture or heavy objects, individual strength alone is often not enough to successfully complete these tasks. At this time, it is particularly important to seek professional furniture handling and heavy lifting services. Carrying heavy objects is not just a physical challenge, it is also a matter of skill and safety. Many furniture and home appliances are large in size and considerable in weight, and single handling is often easy to cause damage to the item, and even accidental injury may occur. Especially in high-floor residential buildings, the lack of elevators makes it more troublesome to move these furniture. Even with elevators, the narrowness of the corridors or the size of the furniture can make moving work extremely complicated. At this point, professional movers, with their experience and skills, are able to skillfully handle these challenges, ensuring that all furniture and items can be smoothly moved to the new home without damage. In addition, a lot of furniture needs to be removed and then moved to a new home, and in the moving process, many items such as glass, electronic products, etc., are fragile, need to be particularly careful packing and handling. For these special needs, professional moving service companies usually provide additional services such as packaging, disassembly and special protection to ensure that each item is fully protected during the handling process to avoid unnecessary losses caused by carelessness in the moving process. In addition, moving often involves more than one or two heavy items. Many people are faced with the need to relocate a large number of items such as furniture and appliances, which requires not only physical strength, but also coordination and effective planning. The moving company has an experienced handling team, they usually plan the handling route in advance to avoid taking the wrong way or wasting time in the handling process, so as to improve the efficiency of relocation. Of course, the most important thing is that professional handling services allow you to reduce unnecessary stress and burden. Moving is tedious and tiring enough, especially when you need to deal with complex items handling, the help of professionals can ensure that the moving process goes smoothly, so that you can focus more on other things that need to be handled. In general, furniture handling and heavy lifting is not only physical work, but also a job that requires experience, skill and safety awareness. Hiring professionals to help move heavy objects can not only reduce physical fatigue, but also avoid losses and injuries caused by improper handling. If you are moving or need to move heavy objects, consider enlisting the help of a professional mover to make the process easier, safer and more efficient.

Last week, I was helping a friend move house. When I opened the door, I was shocked - there were eight boxes of tissue paper piled up in the hallway (she said the supermarket had discounted them), the library was full of unopened blind boxes (collection value?), and the bathroom cabinet was filled with 2018 bath salts (which were long overdue and still had them). Moving company brother wry smile: "Sister, you have to add two trains ah!" For people who like to hoard all kinds of life items, moving is undoubtedly a big challenge. Many people don't realize until they move how many things they have stocked up on: boxes and boxes of tissues, colored dolls or toiletries. If these items are thrown away, they will feel reluctant, and if they are not thrown away, they will increase the burden of moving. Therefore, my advice is to leave the items you just need if you can leave them, and then find the moving company to help.   Preparation for the Move 1. Determining the moving time: Determining the moving time is important because you need to check the weather forecast in advance. Moving on a rainy day would undoubtedly make things even more difficult. 2. Buying moving supplies in advance: including boxes, storage bins, storage bags, and double-sided tape. 3. Practicing decluttering: Get rid of items that haven't been used in the past year and things that are no longer needed. 4. Packing items: Categorize the scattered items, pack them, and label the boxes properly. Three Core Services: 1. Moving Help: Moving assistance is primarily suitable for small to medium-sized relocations and partial item relocation. Services include furniture disassembly & assembly, heavy lifting, and multi-floor transportation support.   2. Couch Removal: For people moving, a large sofa is a big challenge because some hallways may be narrow, making it difficult to pass through. Generally, professional moving companies will measure the sofa's dimensions in advance and assess the best path for moving it. They will also use protective packaging to prevent dirt and dust, and collaborate with multiple movers to handle the task.   3. Help Moving + Truck: This service includes both moving and truck transportation, making it ideal for large families or those with a lot of luggage. The all-in-one package service is loved by many customers because it eliminates the need for self-moving. Professional Moving Companies: Convenience and Peace of Mind   Efficiency: Professional movers ensure fast and streamlined relocation, eliminating delays and labor-intensive tasks. Their systematic approach reduces relocation timelines by up to 50% compared to DIY efforts.   Safety Assurance: Trained teams handle fragile items and bulky furniture with specialized protocols, guaranteeing zero damage during transport. Certified professionals use equipment like furniture blankets and hydraulic lifts for secure moves.   Stress-Free Experience: Opting for Help Moving + Truck full-service packages allows you to delegate all tasks—from packing to setup—to experts. Enjoy an effortless transition to your new space while avoiding physical strain and logistical headaches. Moving is a complex job, but choosing the right moving company can not only greatly reduce the pressure of moving, but also save time. Whether it is a simple item handling, or a complex sofa disassembly and truck transportation, professional moving companies can provide you with a comprehensive solution.
